Margerum M5 2010
M5 is a Chateauneuf-du-Pape style blend using five grape varieties from the highest-quality vineyards in Santa Barbara County. The "M" is for Margerum and "5" for the five grapes Margerum uses: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Counoise, and Cinsault.
The Blend: 40% Syrah (56% Colson Canyon Vineyard, 19% Black Oak Vineyard, 16% Purisima Mountain Vineyard, 5% Great Oaks Vineyard, and 4% Alondra de los Prados Vineyard), 21% Grenache (76% Rodney's Vineyard Grenache Noir and 24% Mesa Verde Grenache), 9% Mourvedre from Curtis Vineyard, 9% Counoise from Camp Four Vineyard, and 13% Cinsault from Camp Four Vineyard. Also included is 2% genesis of M5 (a co-fermentation of everything except Syrah) and 6% M3 (a blend of 2008 Black Oak Vineyard Syrah, 2009 Purisma Mountain Vineyard Grenache, and 2010 Curtis Vineyard Mourvedre).
