Marco Abella Mas Mallola 2008
Rich garnet-red color. Raspberry and cherry aromas with hints of spice and incense. Raspberry, cherry, spice, and incense flavors. Also, light earth flavors with dense velvety tannins. Mas Mallola can be paired with all meats and marries particularly well with marinated pork, lamb, or beef.
For five centuries, the Marco Abella family has produced wine in Porrera and their wines combine this tradition with the innovative essence of Barcelona. Josep Guinovart (Barcelona 1927-2007), a famous painter and dear friend of the Marco family, created paintings for their wines, the inspiration for their labels. Mas Mallola is produced from a blend of the Priorat's two indigenous varieties, Grenache and Carignan, with an added touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz grown in Marco Abella's organic vineyards in Porrera, a distinctive village in Priorat.
