Mara Marquise Reserve Zinfandel Napa Valley 2006

From the well known Napa Valley comes this "Old Vine" ranch that has been producing quality "Old Vine" Zinfandel for us for years. This vineyard to say the least is very low yielding in the vineyard, but produces zinfandel that is elegant and explosive at the same time. We are proud of our two single-vineyard Zinfandels that make up two distinct and different micro-climates and flavors.

The Mara Marquise Reserve (Luvisi Ranch) Napa Valley "Old Vine" Zinfandel has the color of deep red cranberry. The appearance is bright and jewel-like with a nice medium glycerin texture down the side of the glass. The nose is of cherry, raspberry, mineral of stones and slate with spice and a touch of anis. Inside the mouth the wine is soft textured with nice weight, good acid, vanilla cream and spice. The aftertaste has a ripe cherry impression with vanilla, walnut and toast flavors. The acidity is very nice and will age nicely for the next 6 to 8 years. This "Old Vine" Zinfandel longs for spicy foods and baby back ribs.
