Islay, Scotland- An all-malt Scotch whisky, malted barley is dried over a peat fire for a unique full, rich flavor. Aroma and flavors are of blue peat smoke, the sweet nuttiness of the barley, the delicate heathery perfume of Islay's streams.

Laphroaig is about as classic Islay as you can get. Heavily peated, light bodied, a powerhouse of maritime flavors, and smoke, smoke, smoke. It really sticks with you, but in a good way. This particular Laphroaig opens on big, smoky muscular peat notes. The oak is big, and drying, as the savoury, tarry notes build up with an iodine complexity. This is the only malt from the Laphroaig range that John Campbell, Distillery Manager, recommends with water. Try it, it opens up the palate massively, providing a dazzling array of additional flavours.
