In 1848, with the rejuvenation of the Jewish settlement in Jerusalem, Yitzhak Galina-Shor opened the first winery in Israel, in a basement adjunct to the Western Wall in Jerusalem. During the eight generations since its foundation, 1848 Winery continued to grow and gain recognition for its quality wines, re-positioned into several locations, but maintained a tradition of wine production as a way of life.
The wine is colored deep red, with aromas of blackcurrant and plum. It has a full fruit flavor and a long finish. It was aged in small French barrels for 10 months.
Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot 40%.
1848 2nd Generation Syrah is a wine with a unique combination of freshness and depth of flavors. The wine is fruity, earthy, and very spicy, but also has a wonderful and pleasant finish.
A blend of varieties ideal for the Israeli climate, with aromas of black fruit and hints of Mediterranean herbs. Juicy, spicy and elegant. Aging: 10 months in small French oak barrels.
A dark red wine, with vivid flavors of red fruit, mint and tobacco leaves. A full-bodied, rich wine with a long lingering finish.
