Chateau de Roquefort has a long history going back to the Greek-Celtic times, with ownership passing through royal hands and even bishops. Finally, in 1812, an ancestor of the de Villeneuve family bought the chateau and it has stayed in the family since. Their 60-acre vineyard is well-protected by surrounding cliffs, creating an amphitheater-like atmosphere. Chateau de Roquefort's traditional soil culture and vinification methods make for fine, often rare wines in the Cotes de Provence appellation.
