Groth Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon is big and lush with huge gobs of fruit in the aroma and flavor. The texture of the wine is soft and supple, typical of cabernet sauvignons grown in the Oakville AVA. Pair with "a slab and a cab," Dennis Groth recommends you drink his cabernet sauvignon with steak.
88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot. Groth Vineyards & Winery was established in 1982 and produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay from Napa Valley's Oakville AVA. In special years, they will make a "Reserve" bottling of Cabernet Sauvignon from a small lot in their 121-acre Oakville Estate. The Groths also own and operate the 44-acre Hillview Vineyard in Yountville, a prime source for the winery's Chardonnay and Merlot. From its inception, the winery has been family owned and operated. They also treat all their employees as family, as well as those who visit the winery, which is part of the reason why Groth is so successful today. The Cabernet Sauvignon fruit is grown on the estate's controlled vineyards, in the Oakville AVA, in the heart of the Napa Valley. The fruit is night harvested, cluster sorted by hand, crushed, and put into small tanks for fermentation.
