Enodelta Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Rosso 2016
Deep ruby red with slight mahogany rim. The nose presents aroma of dark cherry, dried bacon and woodsy character despite not being aged in oak at all. This is due to the volcanic soil which gives this wine a smoky character. The palate is luscious, a bit acidic and medium tannins with strong red fruit flavors and meaty one too.
Recognized as a region that is beginning to live up to its vast potential, Campania is one of the most dynamic areas in Italy. The Appennine Ridge runs right through the heart of the region, resulting in vineyards located at 500 meters and higher. Chief among these regions is Taurasi, located in the inland province of Avellino. It achieved its DOCG status in 1993, and is among southern Italy’s most renowned red wines. Taurasi’s grape, Aglianico, benefits from the high altitude of the vineyards.
