Emidio Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2010
Montepulciano | Italy
The Montepulciano bares little relation to most other wines of this appellation. These wines are big and bold, filled with intense flavors of dried black cherries, licorice and wild herbs.
The company was founded in the late nineteenth century when Emidio Pepe, grandfather of the present namesake, found in the Torano hills the ideal terroir for the two main Abruzzo grapes. In 1944 his son, Giuseppe, was already known for the quality of his bulk wine. Twenty years later, it was his son’s turn, today known as Ustì, to inherit the land and the knowledge to raise the Trebbiano and the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo to the test of the bottle.
