Domaine la Rocaliere Lirac Rouge 2010
Dense purple color. Possesses aromas of dark cherry, smoked herbs, and aromas of garrigue. The palate shows great richness, blending both cherry and blackberry while maintaining fresh acidity and crisp tannins. Pairs perfectly with modern cooking (roasted chicken, Carpaccio, etc.).
34% Grenache, 33% Mourvedre, 33% Syrah. Domaine la Rocaliere is a 148-acre family estate spread over the apellations of Tavel, Lirac, and Vin de Pays Coteaux de Ceze. The domain is run by two sisters, Severine Lemoine and Melanie Bourrelly, whose father Jacques Borrelly was one of the principle founders of the estate in 1995. Severine tends to the vines and the winemaking while Melanie handles the administration and commercial business. Three grape varieties, also called Kings of the Rhone Valley, meet in the Lirac Rouge to reveal its garrigue surroundings' typicities. It shows a good mix of Southern Rhone complexity, fruit, and structure.
