Domaine Jacques Prieur Beaune Champs-Pimont Blanc Premier Cru 2013
The 5.6-acre Domaine Jacques Prieur parcel of 1er Cru Champ-Pimont sits on the slope overlooking the town of Beaune just west of the village. The vineyard faces due east and produces both red and white wines of superior quality. The soils range from clay based in the lower slopes to mineral rich (iron) gravel soils further up the the slope.
100% Chardonnay. It would be an understatement to claim that Domaine Jacques Prieur's vineyard holdings are great. The domain is the only property in Burgundy to own vineyards in five of the region's most-famous Grand Cru vineyards: Le Montrachet, Le Corton, Les Echezeaux, Le Musigny, and Le Chambertin. The domain also holds vineyards in 17 other prestigious appellations for a total of 51 acres under vine. Founded in 1956, today the domain is owned by the charming, understated Edouard Labruyere.
