Domaine Follin-Arbelet Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Fichots 2010
Overlooking the valley between the hills of Corton and Pernand, the terroir is composed of clayey terrains on compact limestone. The grapes, always of a fine maturity, give rich, powerful, and structured wines, good for keeping (5–15 years). It is certainly among the best terroirs of Pernand-Vergelesses.
88% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc. Still waters run deep with Franck Follin-Arbelet. He may seem quiet and unassuming, but the intensity of his wines speaks louder than words. Having grown up in Burgundy's famous Cote d'Or, he was always attracted to viticulture, but his family's vines were all rented out to metayeurs (share croppers), and they did not make their own wine. Instead, he gravitated towards geology, a field that gave him an expertise in soil. His wife, Christine comes from the famous Latour family.
