Domaine de Dauliac 2016
Malbec (Cot Noir) | France
Organically cultivated vines, some over 80-years-old, on the upper terraces above the river Lot are behind this firmly structured, concentrated wine. With solid tannins as well as the potential of black fruits, it is young and certainly needs to age.
The ancestors of current owners Thierry and Ghislaine Baltenwech settled in the region of Cahors in 1852. Their first vintage was released in 1877. The domaine sits atop the third terrace which in Cahors is the most prestigious with its clay-limestone soils. With their environmentally friendly work ethic, the Baltenwech's had the estate certified organic in 2013.
