Conquista Oak Cask Malbec 2019
Conquista Oak Cask Malbec offers plum and dark cherry fruit characteristics with hints of blackberries and blueberries. The lingering finish has silky tannins, great finesse, and layers of vanilla, mocha and spices. Pairs well with on its own, roasted vegetables, hearty grilled meats or rich cheeses.
Early Spanish Conquistas settled Argentina in the 16th century. They considered this new land’s hot, arid climate ideally suited to wine cultivation. It wasn’t until the late 18th century when the Governor of Cuyo in Mendoza, an area 625 miles west of Buenos Aires, requested Malbec, a classic French grape that was struggling in the cooler climate of Bordeaux, France, brought to Argentina for wine cultivation. Conquista is inspired by Argentina’s Spanish heritage and the Spaniards that, by virtue of their South American conquests, sparked what is today a spectacular heritage of Argentinean wine cultivation.
