The origin of Lot C-91 began in the fall of 1969 when Joe Heitz created this one-off cuvée, which was very normal in those days, as a more premium version of his already iconic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon bottling. Joe envisioned Lot C-91 as a greater step up in quality from the Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, with a higher quality of fruit sourcing, coming exclusively from the sought-after single vineyards of Heitz Cellar.

The inaugural release of Ben Glaetzer’s Godolphin Shiraz Cabernet, the 2004 vintage, received rave reviews from the world’s wine press with US critic Robert Parker describing it as “the stuff of legends….. the apogee of Ben Glaetzer’s winemaking talents”, scoring it 96-98 points. UK wine writer Mathew Dukes was equally impressed writing “This is the earth shatteringly brilliant younger brother to Amon-Ra, and it's a hedonistic Shiraz/Cabernet blend. The 2020 Tignanello is an intense ruby red in color. Complex notes of ripe red fruits, especially cherries, are highlighted along with berries and floral notes. Its bouquet is complemented by notes of roasted coffee and cocoa powder. On the palate, the wine is vibrant with a layered mouthfeel and silky tannins. Tignanello closes with spicy notes of pepper, licorice and herbs with a fresh, lengthy finish.
