Ole Smoky have impressed us at Fine Drams for their excellent range of moonshines. Moonshine, or white whiskey, is likely the form that much of America’s early spirits took, being produced illegally by farmers as a means of using surplus crop.
Taken from the very last 1984 casks from Talisker, set aside and guarded for decades for their promising potential. At the time few knew of Talisker’s tempestuous maritime character, but there was something special about these 1984 casks that made the distiller set them aside.
Defined by exuberant fruit, both red and black. Also shaped by familiar Jonata notes of smoked sausage, black pepper, and black plum skin. Fruit sweetness and power also mixed with fennel and Indian spices.
