Panek Vineyard’s early ripening nature was a blessing in 2017. All 5 blocks we work with achieved full ripeness giving us quite a bit to choose from in this vintage. That coupled with continually improving farming gave us more quantity than we hoped for pre-harvest.
Castello di Brolio is our flagship wine created from a meticulous selection of estate-grown grapes from the three most representative soils that surround the castle itself: Macigno del Chianti (sandstone), Scaglia Toscana (Galestro), Monte Morello (Alberese).
Tinazzi makes excellent Veronese wines; which means they are masters at Amarone, Valpolicella and the like. This “family selection” is made from dried grapes, as is the tradition with Amarone, but here it’s made into a dry wine, and the alcohol isn’t as lofty as with Amarone. So it’s like baby Amarone, made 100% from Corvina, the best grape of the region.
A unique combination of Upper Galilee terroir, with select vineyards rich with history that can be traced back for centuries. Meticulous, selective harvesting, sorting and fermentation process of a unique blend of 3 varietals originating historically from Spain, produced a premium, Mediterranean style wine, with an emphasis on aromatic spice, potency and complexity of the flavors typical of these varietals.
Clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon has a long and mysterious history here in California. It originally arrived in Napa Valley from Mendoza, Argentina in 1964. How it made its way to South America is still unclear, presumably with French winemakers who were leaving Bordeaux in the late 1800s as phylloxera was devastating the region.
The 2012 Unico Tinto is concentrated, juicy, silky, and well-defined. Notable characteristics included the healthiness, the strong coloring, and very ripe tannins suitable for ageing. An excellent vintage.
