The estate owned by Volker and his father dates back to 1709 and it was his father’s passion for Pinot Noir that lead him to plant vines in the loam and clay slopes of the Rhine. The estate’s 24 acres produce some of the best Pinot Noirs in the Germany and are savagely underpriced.

Johan Vineyard is an 85-acre, Demeter-certified biodynamic site in the Willamette Valley, south of McMinnville and west of Salem. This site is almost always our last Pinot pick of harvest. Although it's a relatively low-elevation site, due to its proximity to the coast and the winds that howl through the Van Duzer Corridor every summer afternoon, the fruit here tends to ripen later than in our other vineyards.
Casillero del Diablo Reserva Pinot Noir is a soft and brilliant ruby red color. The aromas are elegant and expressive with remarkable touches of fresh strawberries and traces of raspberries. At the end some soft hints of rose petals appear that are complemented with delicate French oak barrel flavors like cedar and tobacco.
