This is the flagship wine of Yatir Winery. Yatir uses the best plots of the best vineyards of each particular vintage to craft this wine. It is aged up to 18 months in small French oak barrels and then has a further year's bottle aging before release.
Cherry red color with thin terracotta edge showing its longer barrelage. Aromas of mature black fruit, toffee and balsamic as well as some mineral notes. This is a silky wine, but fresh and refreshing as well as elegant and persistent.
Made from Listán Negro sourced from the vineyards of Pedro Umpiérrez and Ascensión Robayna. Vines in excess of 100 years old. Planted in deep, black volcanic sands (up to 3m deep) over clay subsoils. Made from 90% Mencía, with Palomino, Doña Blanca, and Alicante Bouschet, these vines are located in several plots with an average age of at least 50 years. Vinification is 50% whole cluster fermentation and 10 months aging in clay amphorae. This a dark-fruited and savory dry red made with a touch of white grapes. Pair with a smoky chorizo.
The Clos Electrique Rouge from 2021 is an astounding wine with notes of leather, porcini mushrooms, forest floor and a dose of plums bringing in the finish. Its perfect silky mouth and a nice round finish cry for a café 90’s Duck l’orange, chanterelles sautéed with butter and sherry, a Ribeye cooked to perfection or perhaps even cardboard. I mean really, this wine makes anything taste better.
The 2021 J. Lohr Estates Los Osos Merlot presents mature red colorwith a raspberry hue. Brambly fruit aromas of plum and pomegranate are integrated with a barrel signature of mocha and baking spice. Whole berry fermentation with a generous use of Malbec in the blend accentuates bright fruit tones on the palate, and leaves a lengthy finish. Made with 86% Merlot, 14% Malbec.
