It has been one of those thrilling treats to watch the wines from Patrick Piuze evolve over a few vintages now. This producer has a deft hand with urging Chablis to explode with its true expression and we are all the richer for it.
"Maharis" is a Sicilian red wine based on Syrah grapes which is characterized by a Mediterranean, silky and enveloping sip. The nose is a riot of red fruit, accompanied by fine hints of sweet spices, hints of leather, Mediterranean scrub and mineral imprints.
Garnet red. On the nose there are scents of cherries, wild strawberries, caramel. Fresh and well balanced, good length on the palate. The grapes are handpicked, sorted and transported to the winery in small containers to avoid crushing berries and premature oxidation.
Bright ruby red in color, on the nose this wine exhibits lifted notes of plum and black cherries, with slighter cocoa, pepper, coffee and toasted sweet oak hints. In the mouth, this wine presents an excellent structure, with plenty of fruit and tannins.
