Grenache (Garnacha) "Gambrels of the Sky" comes from an Emily Dickinson poem entitled “I dwell in Possibility,” and though this feels a little lofty, it seemed appropriate for a wine dedicated to my remarkable grandmother, Frances Howard Peterson. A blend of Grenache (90%) and Mourvèdre (10%) fermented and matured entirely in stainless steel, this perfumed, blossomy red shines a spotlight on lustrous boysenberry and raspberry flavors.
Herzog Variations Oak is a special wine series that journeys beyond the variations of California wine country, and into the Battle of the Barrels. Oak barrels are a winemaker's spice rack, allowing them to vary the color, flavor, profile and texture of the wine.
