Grenache (Garnacha) "Gambrels of the Sky" comes from an Emily Dickinson poem entitled “I dwell in Possibility,” and though this feels a little lofty, it seemed appropriate for a wine dedicated to my remarkable grandmother, Frances Howard Peterson. Not only did she love poetry, she also loved cooking, science, and wine.
Herzog Variations Oak is a special wine series that journeys beyond the variations of California wine country, and into the Battle of the Barrels. We start with North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon separated into two different types of oak barrels and see which one will come out on top. Oak barrels are a winemaker's spice rack, allowing them to vary the color, flavor, profile and texture of the wine.
1848 2nd Generation Syrah is a wine with a unique combination of freshness and depth of flavors. The wine is fruity, earthy, and very spicy, but also has a wonderful and pleasant finish.
Andosol draws inspiration from the historic field blends of California. The inherent stress the rugged site lends to grape growing will saturate the grapes with intensity and depth. An elegant example of this historic varietal, the 2017 Andosol is a reflection of all that Ink Grade has to offer, a wine polished and bold.
Founded in 1987, Domaine Henri Magnien is a small family estate, with 6 hectares, located in Gevrey-Chambertin. This 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a dark blue/black color and an opaque center. This is a stellar wine with black cherry and blue fruits. The flavors are bright and focused with gorgeous layers of black cherry, plum butter, and mixed berry compote. This expansive Cabernet Sauvignon finishes with flavors of smoked cherry wood and smooth but age worthy tannins.
