Grenache (Garnacha) "Gambrels of the Sky" comes from an Emily Dickinson poem entitled “I dwell in Possibility,” and though this feels a little lofty, it seemed appropriate for a wine dedicated to my remarkable grandmother, Frances Howard Peterson. A wine of a straw yellow color, clean, bright and with medium intensity. Very expressive on the nose with notes of fresh white flowers and fruit. The passage through the mouth is fresh and persistent, but without losing the balanced acidity typical of Godello.
Pure, bright aromas of red fruit greet you in the glass, with lovely raspberry flavors mingling with a spicy licorice note. Another fine offering from one of the Rhone Valley's finest producers.
The second of seven bottlings in the Midleton Kylebeg Wood series, each of which is traceable to a single native Irish oak. The felling of these trees on Ballykilcavan estate, cast sunlight on the floor of this centuries-old forest where new saplings are already taking purchase. A promise that Irish oak will continue to grow there for centuries to come.
