The estateA 4th Classified Growth of Saint-Julien, Chateau Talbot is one of the iconic references of Haut-Medoc. Acquired by Desire Cordier in 1918, Chateau Talbot is today managed by Nancy Bignon-Cordier and her husband, Jean-Paul Bignon.
Golden hue and exceptional purity. A very precise wine. Mineral backbone and good complexity. The first nose is dominated by aromas of white flowers and licorice. The palate is full-bodied, smooth and rich with a delicate acidity that gives it a lively finish. This wine offers excellent ageing potential. Discreet peppery and woody notes evolve. Very persistent finish.
Tasting Notes: A light but fragrant bouquet of herbals flavors, grapefruit, and citrus. “Refreshing” and “Crisp” were words that came to mind when the wine hit the palate. It finishes with more lemon-citrus and mineral hints.
The 2012 is quite pale at the present time, with brilliant green highlights. The nose is well-defined and mineral. Still very young and quite elegant, this wine has yet to reveal its full complexity. However, its class already comes through in the mineral and floral aromas released when the wine is swirled in the glass.
