As part of the Publioteca's mission of pairing the world's most elusive and sought-after whiskies with books, we're honored to present Publioteca's Vol. 2, which pairs Jim Murray's Whiskey Bible with a World Whiskey Society's Kentucky Straight Bourbon, but this isn't any ordinary bourbon!
A first, and last, this is the first 1987 The Singleton of Glen Ord vintage and the only one ever to be released, from the last casks that remain. Slow crafting and patience were key to this rare bottling, taking time to distil the liquid and see each cask reach its peak. The result is an elegant liquid with a fragrant nose and creamy-smooth texture. The sweetly satisfying taste holds deep fruity flavours with hints of ginger.
This rare version of the Miyagikyo single malt has been released as a series of "Nikka Discovery highlighting Nikka's various experiments in every making process.
With a deep amber colour and an aroma reminiscent of dried fruit, dark chocolate and spices, this whiskey is a true sensory experience. The palate is complex and full-bodied with notes of sherry, raisins and caramel, balanced with spices and oak, giving a long and satisfying finish.
This limited edition of Yoichi single malt was introduced in 2021 as the first of the “Nikka Discovery” series. In anticipation of Nikka Whisky’s 90th Anniversary, the series offers an inside look at the various experiments in the whisky-making process that Nikka has practiced over the years.
