L'Ancien comes from Jean Paul's oldest vines--hence the name of the wine--in his home village of Charnay in the southern Beaujolais. Clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon has a long and mysterious history here in California. It originally arrived in Napa Valley from Mendoza, Argentina in 1964. How it made its way to South America is still unclear, presumably with French winemakers who were leaving Bordeaux in the late 1800s as phylloxera was devastating the region.
A great entry level cabernet sauvignon. Medium-bodied red wine with plum and currant aromas and flavors. A nice accompaniment to all meats, pastas and cheeses.

The 2019 Intercept Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of ripe blackberries, red currants, and dried herbs. The wine is full-bodied with flavors of baking spice and plush ripe fruit with a long, fine grained tannin finish.
Some gentle earthy and leafy aromas around redder fruits with nicely played oak spices. The palate has a strong core of linear tannins, which remain plush at the edges and smoothly groomed.

Plump, polished and multilayered, with vibrant blackberry, Christmas spice and licorice flavors that take on richness for a polished finished. Mataro, Syrah, Tempranillo, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel and Grenache.
Typical, fragrant varietal bouquet. harmonious and balanced, with a plump fruitiness and silky texture offset by round, gentle tannins in a wine of medium body and elegant structure.
