This special reserve red dessert wine is produced from high-quality Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlo, grapes. Gaston Huët believed this to be the greatest of all Vouvray vineyards. With the Première Côte’s shallowest, stoniest soils, its wines often synthesize Le Mont’s intense minerality with Le Haut-Lieu’s generous texture.
2017 was a very challenging year, as most of their vineyards in San Vicente de la Sonsierra in Rioja were affected by frost, unlike others in nearby Laguardia. Not only was it frost, but they also had hail later on in the season. This white wine grape is popular around the world and for good reason. Lusciously sweet, and fruit-forward aromas can be anything from fresh citrus to ripe tropical fruit. There are exceptional bottles from all different wine regions, but many of the best Rieslings come from Germany.
Exquisite balance of ripe fruit and oak here, melding together nicely on the full-bodied palate with well-placed tannins that create a pleasant, velvety and fruity carpet that glides gently through the long finish. So well constructed and will be utterly delicious for a long while yet.
Les Beaumonts is a fine and structured red wine, with a very good ageing potential. Very fruity, complex notes of undergrowth and mushroom after a few years in the cellar. This wine can be enjoyed now or left in your cellar for a few years.
A new California Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonanza is produced by Chuck Wagner, owner and winemaker of Caymus Vineyards. It reflects the “bonanza” of the great state of California – the discovery of land where delicious Cabernet can be farmed.
