A deeply satisfying, sophisticated whisky, the flavor of Johnnie Walker Balck Label is marked by its ability to seamlessly combine the power of the West Coast whiskies with the subtlety and smoothness of the noted Mainland whiskies.
A superb blended malt whisky from William Grant, made with single malts from three famous Speyside distilleries. The result is a smooth, creamy, supple and very malty Scotch which works superbly well neat, over ice, or in whisky cocktails.
In this, our first release, 48% of the whiskies have been aged in ex-Sherry casks and 25% in ex-Spanish red wine casks. You will find a whisky that is full, soft and sumptuous on the palate with flavours of citrus peel and pears poached in red wine and spices.
Ballantine’s Finest is the oldest recipe in the current range, created in 1910 by the Ballantine’s family. There are more than 40 malts and grains in this blend. These are carefully selected from 4 different iconic Scottish regions.
American single malt whiskeys, however, are less regulated, allowing more room for experimentation. With a specialty mash bill of Washington Select Pale Malt, Munich Malt, Extra Special Malt, pale chocolate malt, brown malt, and peated malt, their specialty Garryana-aged single malt is fermented with Belgian Brewer’s Yeast for a total of 144 hours, and aged partially in a distinct oak.
Fashions change, and formulae suit. Blended whiskies of the 1970s, ’80s, and ‘90s are very different from today’s versions, even when the brand name remains the same.
