Bodega Colome Estate 2013
Deep, bright red color with a magenta hue. Aromas of black and red fruits (blackberries and blackcurrants, raspberries, and cherries) and the floral scent of violets abound on its complex nose, with hints of spices and minerals. In the mouth, it is fruity and fresh, with a succulent and muscular structure of round velvety tannins. Its finish is fine, delicate, and very long.
85% Malbec, 8% Tannat, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot. Bottled by Hess Family Latin America. Wines of distinction have been crafted at Bodega Colome, here in the Upper Calchaqui Valley, since 1831. Their sustainably farmed desert vineyards grow some of the world's highest-elevation Malbec: San Isidro yields intense ripe fruit, Colome lends complexity and weight, and El Arenal gives elegance and freshness to the blend. Donald Hess has spent over a decade lovingly restoring the Colome winery, Estancia, and vineyards—celebrating one of Argentina's magical, still-untamed lands.
