Barkan Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Special Reserve 2018
One of the winemaker's biggest challenges is the selection of a region of each grape variety. The journey to discover the best region for each variety has led to this Special Reserve series of wines.
The grapes for this Special Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon were grown in the Upper Galilee region on volcanic and Terra Rossa soils. A complex and intense wine resulted from aging in oak barrels for 18 months, which will continue to mature in suitable storage conditions.
Barkan Winery was founded in 1990 by Yair Lerner and Shmuel Boxer. They immediately set forth on a program of modernization and the planting of vineyards in and around Barkan, which they saw as the key to the production of fine wine and expansion of the company. In 2000, a state-of-the-art, modern winery was built in Kibbutz Hulda. This location was chosen because for its proximity to the vineyards of Hulda as well as its central location, close to major roads and removed from urban areas. The winery's location allows the grapes to be quickly transported to the winery, to ensure freshness and to maximize quality. In addition, the strategic location was optimal for distribution of bottled wine to the market. Barkan Winery's bottling facilities were moved to Hulda in 2003, followed by the moving of their offices in 2004.
