Atteca 2014
Over a hundred years ago, the local growers knew that the combination of poor, gravelly slate soils, high altitudes, and arid conditions produced the best grapes. The wine, Atteca, producted today upholds these long-held beliefs. Deep, rich blackberry flavors persist on a long, supple finish and are highlighted by the vibrant, shimmering claret color.
Bottled by R.E. 50/40864 for Bodegas Ateca. Bodegas Ateca, founded in 2005, is the project of the Gil Family in DO Calatayud and is located in the town of Ateca (Zaragoza), 9 miles from the city that gave its name to the appellation. Bodegas Ateca's wines are the result of painstaking work by the selection of grapes with the same, very exhaustive criteria for analytical and organoleptic qualities, proceeding to their harvesting at the ideal moment of maturation. Meticulously hand-harvested clusters of fully matured garnacha grapes were selected from onl the finest hillside vineyards located 3,000 feet above sea leve. These vineyards were planted in the last decades of the nineteenth and the first decade of the twentieth centuries.
