Our unwooded Chardonnay style is captured by picking the grapes when the flavors are fresh and lively, and the vineyards chosen for making this wine are those possessing lifted tropical flavors. For 2008 we have again picked the grapes early in the ripeness spectrum to create a crisp and "food friendly" wine. Cool processing and fermentation were used to retain the freshness of the grapes, and the wine was allowed some time on its yeast lees and blending to build some richness of flavor.
Light straw with green hues the 2008 Yalumba Y Series Unwooded Chardonnay has fresh aromas of pineapple, quince and paw paw with floral spices. A rich, yet mineral palate complemented by fresh tropical fruit that finishes with fresh grapefruit acidity. Serve with lemon chicken or sweet and sour pork.
