Although these vines exude classic Zinfandel characteristics, it's rare for a single vineyard to embody everything we look for in the final blend. We pursue different vineyards for different components. One may deliver spice notes; another, bright fruit flavors; and yet another may provide structure and depth.
Each vineyard we choose is harvested, crushed and fermented separately, then tasted on the blind. That way, the winemaker can evaluate the characteristics of each lot and balance them against one another.
