An alluring inky-purple achievement, the 2021 Abstract is replete with a vivid nose of red and black stone fruits, candied cherry, cassis, dried floral notes, and sweet oak accents. Fleshy and spirited, the wine evolves into a very complex flavor profile of dark berry preserve, raspberry jam, Asian spices, mocha, chaparral, and a hint of crushed rock minerality. An underlying acidity leads to a graceful and fine tannin chain that is seemingly endless.
Very pretty aromas of flowers and flower petal with hints of perfume follow through to a medium body, round yet fine tannins and a flavorful finish.
A blend of Grenache (90%) and Mourvèdre (10%) fermented and matured entirely in stainless steel, this perfumed, blossomy red shines a spotlight on lustrous boysenberry and raspberry flavors.
Alluring, with dark cherry, raspberry and blackberry puree flavors that are streamlined in feel, flecked with anise, mesquite and fruitcake hints as they drive through the focused finish. Finely beaded acidity keeps everything in place. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Best from 2022 through 2038.
Grenache (Garnacha) "Gambrels of the Sky" comes from an Emily Dickinson poem entitled “I dwell in Possibility,” and though this feels a little lofty, it seemed appropriate for a wine dedicated to my remarkable grandmother, Frances Howard Peterson. Not only did she love poetry, she also loved cooking, science, and wine.
