Windsor Sonoma Winery Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2010
Garnet in color, this impressive, supple wine delivers powerful aromas of dried black cherries and strawberries with a bit of cherry-vanilla cola. Complex flavors of cherry, strawberry, cherry cola vanilla and ginger and a lush mouth feel. Wonderfully plump on the mid-palate and silky smooth on the finish, this marvelous wine will delight with every sip.
The fruit for our Windsor Sonoma Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is high in acidity with a long hang time. The lush black fruit is hand-sorted and placed into small lot, open-tank fermentation. After an extended cold soak, the juice is left on its lees for 6 months. The Russian River Valley is one of the coolest appellations in Sonoma County, providing ideal conditions for growing some of the world's best Pinot Noir grapes. With the nearby Pacific Ocean, morning fog and afternoon breezes strongly influence the region's growing season. Pinot Noir grapes have the luxury of ripening slowly to develop full, luscious fruit flavors and ripe tannins, while retaining balanced acidity—the signature characteristics of our expressive 2010 Pinot Noir.
