For 35 years, Weninger has concentrated on growing Blaufrankisch, working on six Blaufrankisch vineyards in three different areas. The soil from these vineyards range from clay to slate, schist, and lime. Their oldest vines are 80 years old. Very early on, they realized that the character of a vineyard can only be felt on a healthy living soil. Out of this realization, a philosophy of "In the way we treat our vines with respect, we also treat our soil and people" was born.
