Weingut Markowitsch Gruener Veltliner 2015
Yellow-green, intense nose of ripe apples. Elegant acidity structure. Very lively on the palate with a lot of fruit and spice in the finish. Ideal with veal, pasta and salad dishes, light fish dishes, or spicy wok dishes. Intended as a companion for just about any occasion.
For red wines, Markowitsch is in a class of his own amongst Austrian producers. His vineyards, in Carnuntum are ideally situated on a slope approximately equidistant from the Danube River on one side and the Neusiedlersee on the other. The soils are sandy loam and limestone (perfect for reds) and he does not irrigate. He is equally famous for his rare cuvees of pinot noir, rosenberg blend, and his ultimate "M" cuvee, as he is for his value cuvees, Rubin Carnuntum and Carnuntum Cuvee.
