Voyager Estate Chardonnay 2004

The 2004 Chardonnay displays stone fruits, lemon zest, grapefruit and noticeable creamy nuttiness from the lees contact. The early picking, wild fermentation and addition of grape solids give the wine complexity and balance. These winemaking techniques combined with high quality French oak and regular lees stirring produce wine with ample flavor and texture. The wine has abundant natural acidity to provide structure and longevity.

In keeping with the style evolution of Voyager Estate's Chardonnay, the 2004 Chardonnay shows the lean, tight fruit flavors we are striving for. Potentially the lowest alcohol Chardonnay we have ever produced, the 2004 wine has lovely tight fruit in the grapefruit and citrus spectrum. Alcohol of 13.2%v/v, natural acidity and tight age-worthy structure reflect the style direction taken by the Voyager Estate team. Where the 2002 Chardonnay reflected tight, lean citrus fruits, which fit the cool vintage fruit profile, the 2004 Chardonnay shows more fruit weight but with similar tight structure that makes this region so famous.
