Vatistas Assyrtiko 2006
Award-wining wines produced in Neapolis by Yiannis Vatista, of Vatistas Winery, feature Greek varietals as well as the international varietals. His 30-acre vineyards lie on the plains of Vion and the hillsides of Pantanassa, next to the castle of Monemvasia, where the famous Malvasia wine originates. Because of his commitment to developing local Greek varietals, in his vineyards you'll find Petrouliano, Asproudi, Thrapsa, Mavroudi, Monemvasia, Kydonitsa, Roditi, Mandilaria, as well as Assyrtiko, Aedani, Athiri, Agiorgitiko, and Malagousia, along with the noble foreign varieties of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet, and Merlot. Assyrtiko is a white, dry wine from the native variety, Assyrtiko, grown in Vatista's vineyards in the region of Monemvasia. Grape selection and meticulous vinification was also done for this wine.
A distinctive, pleasant wine with fruity aromas and mouthfeel. Ideally accompanies seafood, fish, shellfish, and mildly cured meat.
