Van Duzer Pinot Noir Rose 2013
The wine's nose is restrained, showing delicate aromas of white sugar and vanilla. It enters the mouth smooth and polished with considerable volume. Showing Van Duzer's signature airy style, the wine eschews weight and viscosity and favors acceleration and agility. The fruit flavors are also restrained, suggesting early-season strawberries and pomegranate. Its persistence makes it an ideal match with food, though the wine does not require a foil of any sort.
100% Pinot Noir. Each year, Van Duzer makes a small amount of Pinot Noir-based Rose. Gentle winemaking in the traditional method of limited-grape-skin contact produces a dry, crisp rose that dances with red raspberry, strawberry, and mineral notes. Their label is inspired by Zephyra, the Greek goddess of the gentle west wind who blows Pacific breezes through the Van Duzer Corridor over their family-estate vineyards.
