Bottled on the property of Bodegas Sendero Royal for Rodriguez Sanzo, a wine company devoted to uniting the major Designations of Origin of the Spanish wine scene. Javier Rodriguez (the architect of the project) produces high-quality wines with an excellent value-for-money ratio in collaboration with small growers belonging to some of the most important D.O districts, such as Rioja and Ribera del Duero in Spain and Douro in Portugal. One important goal for Javier Rodriguez is to respect and reflect the different characteristics of each of the terroirs the grapes come from. Valsanzo is a brand created by Javier who forged a partnership with Bodegas Sendero Royal in 2002 to produce the wine for the entire line. A landscape that is unique in the world thanks to its more than 120 million-year-old soil, from the time when dinosaurs inhabited what are now Valsanzo's vineyards in Rioja. They have chosen the highest vineyards where the climate is at its most dramatic; where grapes acquire their strongest character and produce wines suitable for long aging.
85% Tempranillo, 15% Graciano. Intense, dark cherry-red color with garnet hues. Very intense and complex nose, with an initial waft of spicy and balsamic aromas against a background of ripe fruit. When you open the wine, it reveals the aroma of Tempranillo liqueur with a touch of barrel aging. In the mouth, it is complete, round with surprising silkiness and elegance. It is the ideal companion for stews and red meat, as well as dessert and cheese.
