Two Hands Wines Samantha's Garden 2010
Black-core, magenta-rimmed color. Interesting, ever-evolving red-black fruit and earthy aromas, including eucalyptus, cloves, spice, and lively chocolate notes. Dense, but displays a fine-fruit profile through the palate; plums, spice, bitter chocolate, and subtle eucalyptus notes with long, fine tannins.
100% Shiraz. Two Hands Wines was founded in early 1999 by Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz. They are focused on showcasing the diversity of Australian Shiraz by highlighting regional characteristics and allowing the fruit to be the wines' primary feature. Two Hands refers to the very personable approach taken with each parcel of grapes. Their unique approach is reflected in everything from the names of the wines to innovative packaging and the wines themselves. The Garden Series is a super premium range of Shiraz from six of the finest Shiraz-producing regions in Australia. On each of their labels, the handiwork of Two Hands are handled in a handwritten poem (pardon the tongue-twisting, hands-on pun): "the sun shines the vineyard grows, the grapes ripen, the hands cut the bunches, the hands crush her skin, the hands craft her juices So now two hands can open the wine and she can shine in all her glory." Samantha's Garden is named after Michael Twelftree's wife, Samantha, and reflects the unique terroir of Clare Valley—an elegant wine characterized by bright lively aromas, subtle fruit flavors, and fine-grained tannins.
