At the foot of the Andes Mountains in Chile, Torreon de Paredes, founded in 1979, makes estate wine from grapes hand harvested in its own vineyards. Both the winery and vineyards lie in Rengo, in the upper reaches of the Cachapoal Valley (Rapel region). Rengo is a recognized Chilean terroir for the production of fine wine. It enjoys a Mediterranean climate (dry in spring and summer, with cool summer nights) as well as rocky and alluvial hillside soil. With its strong family tradition and clear, guiding principle ("A good wine can only be produced using top quality proprietary grapes"), Torreon de Paredes has achieved a strong presence both locally and around the world. This Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva is matured in French oak barrels for 12 months.
90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot. Deep ruby-red color with shades of violet. The elegant nose shows complex aromas of red fruits, tobacco, mint, and laurel, with fine notes of black chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. The attack of the palate is round and smooth with notes of black fruits, ripe figs, plums, and tobacco. The soft and mature tannins provide an elegant structure and a long finish. Ideal to serve with red meats, ham, bacon, venison, game birds, or gruyere cheese.
