The Balvenie Distillery Single Barrel 15
This bottle of the Balvenie Single Barrel Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the yield of just one single cask of no more than 350 bottles. Each traditional oak cask has matured undisturbed for at least fifteen years. Each cask imparts slightly different flavor notes that overlay the mellow, rich, and full-flavored character of carefully aged Balvenie. It is characterized by honey and vanilla, with oak notes.
The Balvenie Distillery remains totally dedicated to the traditions, care and craftsmanship of malt-whisky making, and has been owned and managed by the same independent family company for five generations. The cooper's adze is essential in the cooperage. It's used for trimming the staves of the casks which impart so much of the character to their malt whisky. Nowhere else will you find a distillery that still grows its own barley, that still malts in its own traditional floor maltings, that still has coopers to tend all the casks and a coppersmith to tend the stills. From the moment the traditional oak cask is filled, it remains undisturbed in Balvenie's warehouses to mature at its own pace. Every year the malt master carefully samples those casks that have achieved at least fifteen years of maturation.
