Terlato Family Vineyards Angels' Peak – Napa Valley 2003
This elegant cuvee of 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot owes a tip of the hat to the tiny Pomerol region of Bordeaux. The virtually opaque purple-hued Angels' Peak presents heady aromas of crushed cherries, sweet oak and new-car leather. Its flavor profile features wonderful richness and a lithe, sweet attack followed by an expansive dark fruit mid-palate, silky tannins, and an extended, sumptuous finish. The classic Right Bank structure makes it approachable now and eminently cellar-worthy as well.
Angels' Peak is the first blend in the series, following the traditions and methods of the Pomerol region which is known for its fruit forward wines dominated by the Merlot grape. This wine is a rich, lush tribute to Pomerol.
