Kreinbacher was established in 2002 by Jozsef Kreinbacher. It is located in Somlo, a tiny wine region approximately 62 miles east of the Austrian Alps, on steep basalt volcanic slopes centered around an extinct volcano. Somlo produces excellent-quality, dry white wines that rival the more known Tokaj. Mainly native Hungary grapes are grown here: Juhfark (Sheep's Tail), Harslevelu (Linden leaf), Furmint, and Olaszrizling (Welchsriesling).
