With its distinctive bottle reminiscent of early settlers and “coffeehouses,” it’s easy to see how the Sazerac Whisky became a staple in the creation of one of America’s oldest cocktails.
Deep amber in color with aromas of spice, cinnamon, and creamy vanilla. Rich and full bodied with classic peppery rye notes with sweet bourbon-like accents followed by a long and velvety finish.
Distilled and bottled in Kentucky, aged a minimum of three years, this whiskey offers a dry core with hints of oak and leather, winding into a spiced finish that levels off with nuanced caramel and tart cherry.
Aged in both new char and toasted barrels before being placed on ships that travel the seas and to 5 continents. Nose of toasted marshmallows, syrup and spice. Flavors of toffee, vanilla with hints of leather. Finishes with spice, cinnamon and sea salt. Non Chill Filtered.
Naturally ferments because of the high barley content. Notes of brown sugar and magnolia blossom. Tastes of black pepper, cinnamon stick, dried dill, and baked apple. Ends with a dry finish.
One of their most limited production items, Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye continues the legacy of America’s first whiskey variety (rye) from America’s first whiskey company (Michter’s, originally known as Shenk’s).
The signature Straight Rye Whiskey from Overholt has increased to a 4-year age statement (from 3 year old, which has been discontinued). The 4 year age statement pays homage to Overholt’s 1942 original age statement and marks a return to the liquid’s historical roots. Old Overholt 4-Year Old is bottled NCF (Non-Chill Filtered) at 86 proof (43% ABV).
The 100% malted rye mash bill imparts a delicate floral aroma, soft notes of vanilla, toasted rye bread, and a light finish of chocolate and warm spice. Malted Rye offers a well-rounded, lighter, approachable and refined taste profile.
Since the 1990’s, the Michter’s team has been doing pioneering work to re-establish the high-quality American Rye whiskey category. The May 2015 inaugural release of Michter’s US★1 Barrel Strength Rye marked yet another milestone in that quest.
While their Michter’s team distills according to tried and true Kentucky practices, it continually experiments as it pursues Michter’s goal of making the greatest American whiskeys.
The 17th edition of the Parker’s Heritage Collection consists of this 10-year-old Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey pulled from 142 barrels. For this release, they used their traditional rye mashbill of 51% rye, 35% corn and 14% malted barley.
