If you are a serious fan of American Whiskey, this brand needs no introduction. The rare releases are arguably the most coveted in class. This single barrel #9688 of rye comes from stock aged 7yrs. Bottled at a natural cask strength with a total yield of only 210 bottles.
The name has two meanings. The 20-year-old bourbon matured twice as long as the standard Eagle Rare 10-year-old bourbon. Also, the Double Eagle decanter features two sculptured crystal glass eagles, one inside the bottle, while the other serves as the stopper.
This ten-year-old Bottled in Bond bourbon was aged in Warehouse C, built by Col. Taylor in 1885, and the barrel warehouse he was most proud of – the final piece in his “model distillery.” Like some of the previous releases, this one-time-only bottling of E.H. Taylor, Jr Warehouse C Bourbon is very limited. The ideal aging locations for these barrels led to a wonderful flavor combination, with a nose of cherry cobbler with rum sauce and a hint of oak; a palate of cherry cola, vanilla bean and toasted oak; and a finish that is long and lingering with a hint of spearmint, coffee, raisin bread and anise.
Kentucky Owl Dry state is an extremely rare blend of Kentucky Owl's most precious barrels. "Following the eighteenth amendment and passage of the Volstead Act, America went into a dry state. Their G.M. Dedman Distillery closed forever. This rare blend pays homage to this consequential event.
Tasting notes for this bourbon describe cherry cordial on the nose followed by caramel and slightly smoked-oak. Dark chocolate, tobacco leaves and dates are found on the palate, followed by a lingering finish of leather, black pepper and cinnamon.
Buffalo Trace is unveiling a new O.F.C. Vintage bourbon this fall.
