Six Hats Shiraz 2012
Bright and clear color with some hints of violet. Aromas of rich, ripe fruits with spice and freshly cracked black pepper. In the mouth it is soft and juicy, with black cherries and ripe plums seasoned with complementing spices. Still young and fresh with soft, rounded tannins. Medium to full bodied with a refreshing aftertaste. This is a fairly versatile Shiraz with a balanced character. It is also a fantastic barbeque wine and will pair well with grilled red meat (such as lamb or beef), as well as game meats or tomato-based pasta dishes.
Produced by Citrusdal Wines, formed in 2007 when Charles Back entered into a collaborative partnership with several local Fairtrade and non-Fairtrade farmers and located in the town of Citrusdal. Their Six Hats brand, launched in 2009, is built around a concept that seeks to highlight the various roles and responsibilities assumed by all parties involved in progressive and equitable wine farming. These "Six Hats" (or 6 principles) are worn by both the farmer and the community (Partnership, Change, Potential, Equity, Dignity, and Sustainability) represented on their label by six elegantly, illustrated hats. Terroir is a word commonly used to describe the elements that contribute to great wine.
