Rose de Fayel 2012
This rose is a blend of cabernet franc, syrah, and grenache. This delicious Rose is produced by Robert Kacher Selections' friend Jean-Francois Fayel of Domaine des Cantarelles. The label for this special bottling was created by two local artists from the Camargue area near Nimes.
70% Cabernet Franc, 25% Syrah, 5% Grenache Produced by Domaine des Cantarelles, which is owned by Jean-Francois Fayel and is located southeast of the city of Nimes. This area was once the delta for the Rhone River and is considered part of the Rhone Valley as opposed to its neighbor, the Languedoc. The region has a warm climate that produces wines noted for their ripe fruit and rich texture. It is the last untapped region for quality wine-production in southern France. The vineyards of Cantarelles are close to the lakes— its composition of limestone allows rainwater to seep into the layer of pebbles, gather in the gullies' impermeable, underlying land, and form a discontinuous groundwater. This arrangement provides the vines with a regular source of water throughout the year, thus avoiding loss of the vines to the summer drought.
